AUBURN, AL- Auburn University students enjoyed the mid-drive celebration on Monday, October 16. The event featured pop up booths from local farmers and business owners. Some of the goods included fresh produce, a build-your-own bouquet station, home-made candles and lemonade.
The farmer’s market took place during the 30th annual Beat Bama Food Drive which began on September 29 and ends November 16.
The Beat Bama Food Drive joined forces with the University Program Council to put on the event.
Since 1994, Auburn University has partnered with the Food Bank of East Alabama to help fight hunger and poverty across the state. The Beat Bama Food Drive challenges the University of Alabama and the West Alabama Food Bank to a competition over who can collect the most non-perishable food. Last year’s food drive raised 550,117 pounds of food.
To attend the event, students scanned a QR code at the entry where staff handed out tickets. Over 200 students enjoyed the farmer’s market for free.
The farmer’s market was held at Cater Lawn lawn and lasted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Beat Bama Food Drive encourages students who missed the event to stop by their table on the Haley Concourse this Wednesday to learn more about the organization.
